Spring Forward & Get Your Home Ready for the Spring Selling Market
Remember to adjust your clocks for Daylight Saving Time this weekend and “Spring Forward”. And, while you are adjusting your clocks, it’s a good time to be thinking of what you need to do to prepare your home for the Spring Selling Market. In order to have your home stand out from all the others on the market, there are some things in your home to inspect, repair or replace in order to attract the buyers coming through your door. Here are 5 great tips to get you started:
- Have a Home Inspection so you’ll know what issues you should address. Make the repairs that you can and make a list to disclose to the buyer, because in Texas, you will need to disclose to the buyer the results of that inspection.
- Get Replacement Estimates for any of the repairs that you can’t take care of yourself. If you can’t afford to repair them, the buyer will at least have an estimate of what work needs to be done.
- Make Minor Repairs that you can afford to make to improve the look of your home. Minor repairs like replacing door knobs, missing or ripped window screens or a light fixture that doesn’t work will make a big difference to buyers.
- Clear the Clutter – you’re going to pack for the move anyway, so clear out some things and store the boxes in the garage or attic. Clear off the kitchen counters, closets, extra pieces of furniture. Remember, Less is More when you are selling your home. You should also remove you’re your personal family photos, refrigerator magnets, etc, to depersonalize your home.
- Do a Thorough Cleaning so your home will make a long lasting impression with the Buyers. Dust the drapes and blinds, wash windows, screens, light fixtures and baseboards, clean carpets and rugs, and give the kitchen a good deep cleaning from top to bottom. And don’t forget to straighten up the garage.
